Will the new “IT” Movie, see a new wave of Creepy Clown sightings?

13 Jun

A subject not talked about on here for ages is that of the Clown sightings of the past few years. The worldwide craze started by the Northampton Clown, caused much fear and loathing in the community in the UK and US and started a viral sensation that now is but a distant memory.

September sees the release of the new version of Stephen King’s seminal horror, “IT” which I’m sure that we are all familiar with. The movie looks like something most fans of the horror genre will be looking forward to, but maybe not if you’re caulrophobia (Phobic of clowns) but the whole thing has got me thinking that while the whole craze is old hat now, we might be seeing a resurgence of such antics again once the movie has been released.

If you haven’t seen the trailer for the new film yet, where have you been? No longer will we see the great Tim Curry don the guise of the infamous “Pennywise the dancing clown”, but now Bill Skarsgard will play the evil alien entity who disguises itself as a variety of head fucks to feast on the young residents of the town of Derry.

For those of you who haven’t seen the trailer, here it is before we carry on with the discourse.

Looks ok, but the proof of the pudding will be seeing the movie in its entirety. It does look as if the movie will deal with the first part of the story (when they were kids) with a sequel in the works probably to carry on the second part of the story (when they are adults) and have to face “IT” once more to stop its reign of terror.

This aside, I’m pretty sure we are going to get the onslaught of clown sightings as a response to the movie’s release. There will always be some joker (get it?!) ready to put on the clown suit and mask and start scaring people for a variety of reasons, be it for publicity, for viral hits or simply to spite those who live in fear of clowns. This is a big issue, seriously bigger than you’d realise, some people really do have a proper fear of all things clown. the last time I blogged about them, at one point I received 160,000 hits in a day just on one post about the subject and over 100 private messages and emails! A real boost for my humble site stats for sure, but a real eye-opener in terms of how much this subject affects people’s lives and psyches.

I recently took my kids to the circus, myself hoping that the clown/s there would be creepy enough to entertain me (well, I’m not scared of clowns if you’re wondering) but what I ended up finding is that “real career clowns” if I can call them that, are somewhat watered down compared to the traditional idea, which for me at least was a bit disappointing!

What I will do here, is monitor the subject in the media over the course of the movie release, and what I find, I will blog about. One thing is assured this time, is that if my own area sees the return of the Doncaster Clown (or other pretenders to the title) I will try my best to get an interview with the guy, in fact, if there are any other regional clowns, I’ll also try to start up a conversation with them, just to see what motivates these folks to do what they do!

Who knows, I might end up making some clown related PDFs, minis or similar type stuff to cash in on the craze (well, if it happens) and the very least should help me shift some books!

Whatever happens, mark my words. The clowns will return, and I’ll be here to keep you up to date with the associated craziness that comes along with it! Let me know your thoughts and comments on the subject!

CLOWN NEWS: South Yorkshire Police speak out about recent clown sightings

21 Nov

CLOWN NEWS

Police quell fears over Doncaster spooky clown ‘sightings’ – The Star.

In this article from the Star newspaper (and online) which states the Safer neighbourhoods team say:

“We are aware that there are a number of reports circulating on social media of a clown being seen on the streets of South Yorkshire.“There have been no actual sightings of a clown reported to police or any crimes committed.”

If this is “true”, then I find it hard to believe that no one has made any reports at all. I think its more likely that they are trying to downplay the clown crisis, just to stop the fear and worry. Methinks a request for information (freedom of information and all that) will be in order, just to see exactly how many reports SYP have recieved about it.

With the uproar of tonights clown sighting around here, not only were paramedics alerted, but also police officers, already with this fact, the statement is already false! Even my mother-in-law rang up to enquire about her concern when the thing started, and I also imagine that others have done so as well! Wait till some old dear gets a shock from a clown and keels over dead? Just harmless fun then is it?

Obviously people are scared, understandably so, its not everyday a costumed psycho taps on your windows dressed as a clown! Yes I know that the rumours are just that, rumours, but no one can deny that somethings going on. the residents round here were almost getting pitchforks and flaming torches to hunt down and lynch the culprit (which in today’s fiasco, there were two occasions to the same place, either the same one or there is another working in pairs etc.)

I still think its just a load of publicity seeking pranksters, scaring folks for fun. But even so, the intent to scare and harass must be considered some type of criminal act? How police can say no crime has occurred is strange, surely tresspass at least, they seem to have no trouble usually making up stuff to charge people with, why not now?

This article here detailing the Grimsby clown is a new one for the list, and a bit more well researched than usual, only thing is if that picture is the actual Scunthorpe clown, he’s not even scary! It’s like Mr Tumble has just raided a charity shop! Admittedly the Market Rasen clown is more creepy, but it seems that at this rate every town and city in the UK will end up with a clown, all you need is some silly fucker with a £19.99 clown outfit and a latex mask off ebay!

CLOWN NEWS: Lincoln, Scunthorpe and Sheffield clowns in the news

21 Nov

So, more clown stuff, rather than give you a description of todays found news, I thought that I’d let the links speak for themselves, and the pics/vids so to speak. New locations and related clown info drifting around the web.

The Lincoln Clown: http://www.scunthorpetelegraph.co.uk/Scary-clown-spotted-Lincoln-Facebook-page/story-20104672-detail/story.html Some whispers on the net claim that this clown was nothing but a local band seeking the news to go viral, again for publicity (if that had been successful, we would know the bands name wouldn’t we!)

The Scunthorpe Clown: http://www.scunthorpetelegraph.co.uk/sinister-looking-clown-roaming-streets-Scunthorpe/story-20099038-detail/story.html and here: http://www.scunthorpetelegraph.co.uk/Good-clown-Scunthorpe-8217-s-sinister-clown/story-20104994-detail/story.html and here: http://www.scunthorpetelegraph.co.uk/xx/story-20100213-detail/story.html

And Sheffieldhttp://forgetoday.com/news/mysterious-locals-spotted-clowning-around-sheffield/ and talk here; http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?p=10167865 and Sheffield sightings facebook page https://www.facebook.com/OfficialSheffieldCS

Also pics of the Chesterfield, Sheffield and Retford Clowns.

May or not be the “Rainworth clown” however, while the mask looks similar, the costume doesn’t match.

Taken from the facebook page, dedicated to this creepy clown haunting Sheffield.

I thought I’d add this video of the rainworth clown from youtube, just for comparison to the pic of the Chesterfield clown, as you see, the costume differs, so I would still say these are still two different, if not unrelated clowns (jesus, I can’t believe I’m seriously writing this!)

This is a new one, the Retford clown, looks kinda like a zombie Ronald MacD.

Plus a shot of the purported Retford clown, a zombified version of Mr macD, I’d heard a few rumours of Retford’s clown, but I suppose this is confirmation it’s true.

As we speak, literally while I’m typing there’s been a sighting in my area, a kid has just seen a clown, and it’s scared her senseless and is getting treated for shock right now. I must tell you that even so I’m not too fazed by one of these costumed freaks, just hearing lots of uproar and uncertainty in case someones lurking around my area, it’s still really unsettling. My kids are pretty freaked right now (Plus they’re only little ones, so they are borderline from really throwing a big panic if anyone upsets them now they have heard there’s a scary clown about) I’ll get more info about this as soon as possible.

For those out there who normally come here for other content that’s non-clown related, please do not fear, I’ll be back to normal service soon, providing these bloody clowns don’t spread further…

Right where’s my bat…

CLOWN NEWS: Mansfield Clown identified as the Rainworth clown, could be circus hoax?

20 Nov

Northampton clown says he is ‘glad’ to have inspired Mansfield clown as speculation continues | Nottingham Post.

So, i think we’ve worked out something about the mysterious clown in this picture. This is the Rainworth Clown, the clown pretender to that of the Northampton clown’s place as hot property. You’ll see in the above article that the Northampton clown is pleased he inspired this publicity stunt for a visiting circus, and that the clown in the picture is even a woman!

I’d heard its name mentioned, but failed to see this from last week. Also they have a page over on facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/Rainworthsclownpage

Could the other numerous sightings be part of a big publicity stunt for a travelling circus? With new sightings of a clown in more areas of Doncaster (Intake, Cantley and Balby) and York, Bolton and Burnley, you could say that this seems to be mainly a Northern phenomenon, could there be a big coordinated effort for some huge publicity stunt?

Please keep the info coming in, and thanks too everyone who’s come forward with news (Unknown, Joanne and Laura)

Updated Sightings list:

Doncaster and surrounding areas;

Further sightings of mystery clowns in the following additional areas:

  • Sheffield
  • Rotherham

CLOWN NEWS: VIDEO: Is this the Doncaster Clown? Plus more sightings and round up.

20 Nov

Is this mystery creep, really the now infamous Doncaster clown? Many thanks to Maz and Brett for pointing me in the way of this video, posted recently on facebook. It was taken in the Rossington area, near the Hare & Tortoise pub, and quite clearly shows a very evil looking figure, which looks at first like a dummy, but as the video unfolds, it begins to move.

Although we can not substantiate this as being the actual doncaster clown in question, its a good candidate don’t you think? take a look for yourself and make your own mind up about its authenticity. i would love t have a screen grab of the clown in the video to show in the post heading, but alas, my programs elude me for the option, so if anyone out there could help me out with a good clear grab for further analysis, please let me know if you could help me out.

Click on the link below for the video (I couldn’t host it here)

Sightings update:

Well, the response to the last clown news article has been absolutely batshit crazy, having recieved well over 100,000 hits here in the last day, it seems like there really is some meat on the bone of the various rumours of the latest spate of clown sightings (This could end up like a sport, clown spotting) with evil clown stalkers in not only Mansfield, and Chesterfield, but rumours of the prolific Doncaster Clown. The overall information is still pretty sketchy and mostly unconfirmed, so please bear that in mind and do treat every rumour with a pinch of salt until we can assertain real facts concerning this surreal phenomena. Indeed there is probably some truth to as and how the rumours started, but the more I dig, the stranger it all becomes.

We are also not alone in our town in the clown phenomenon, with news coming in with parts of Sheffield, Wakefield, Scunthorpe and others having copycat clowns as well. Looks as if the clown invasion has begun!

What I’d like to ask is that if you know anything regarding these sightings, or pics or video, please let me know and I’ll do my best to edit it all together here and keep a track of it (besides, most stuff about the Doncaster clown gets directed to here anyway) This way, you can take an objective look at any evidence  and make your own mind up about the whole thing!

What do we know (rumour wise):

I thought I’d put up what we have so far, again your input is greatly appreciated in the mystery clown rumour mill, just so those out there (and myself) who want to know just what the hell is going on about the weirdness. I want to concentrate on the most recent stuff (not the northampton clown or the carrick fergus ones that probably started the whole thing) instead the mystery surrounding the newer sightings as these may prove to be even more interesting and bizarre than the clown that started it!

There have been new clown sightings in the following parts of the Doncaster and surrounding area:

Further sightings of mystery clowns in the following additional areas:

  • Sheffield
  • Rotherham
  • Alvethorpe
  • Outwood
  • Wakefield
  • Scunthorpe
  • Skegness
  • Confirmed and documented sightings in Chesterfield and Mansfield

Witnesses or rumours reported to include the following details:

  • Tapping or knocking on windows and doors, or looking through windows (many sightings)
  • Skipping across roads or down streets.
  • Asking to clean/paint windows and sills.
  • Carrying items such as toys or baloons.
  • Two spotted at once (unconfirmed)
  • Trying to lure children from homes (unconfirmed)
  • Carrying a knife/blade (unconfirmed)
  • Non threatening behaviour.
  • At least two images or pics of what is reported to be the Doncaster clown (well, we have one video, can we find the other/s?)
  • There are a total of 13 clowns that each claim a suburb of Doncaster to haunt.

Summing up so far:

My thoughts on this whole thing is that, even so the pranks/stunts may seem evil or sinister, I have no doubt that this is just some harmless pranksters attempt at a laugh, but I do sympathise with the caulrophobes out there, it can’t be nice living in fear like this.

Even so the notion of the 13 clowns theory is quite a mad concept, I think we are looking at many rather than just one or two, either that or one clown is driving up and down the area to cause chaos! It truly is one of strangest things I have heard of in a very long time, I think thats why it’s so intregueing, just why are people doing this? What is the reason in the sheer amount of rumours circulating about? Is there an underground conclave of secret clown councils, intent on taking over!?

We live in a very mad and messed up world.

More news as it comes in.
