Crowdfunding Spotlight: Tabletop Towns – Cargo Containers Kickstarter

14 May

There’s so much cool stuff for 28mm wargaming these days, it almost makes me want to start the switch back over. The choice and availability for the scale seems to far outstrip the rest that for most, it’s classed as god’s own scale!

Regulars to the site will recognise this latest KS from the tabletop towns stable of products, with this time, something for the wargamers who play modern & scifi. These containers suit the modular nature of the tabletop towns style of simple block shaped buildings and terrain, and I’m sure there will be plenty of takers for them.

Ideal scenics for a modern/zombie setting as well as the plethora of more scifi orientated stuff, and quite asthetically pleasing when grouped, it adds another string to their growing catalogue of portable card scenery. If you’ve been paying attention to the evolution of tabletop towns, I can see great things to come from them in the future.

Personally I’m holding out for some 15mm stuff (city blocks and the like) and I’d be all over them like no ones business, but I think that there’s probably more viability in 28mm in terms of sales from the 28mm folks, but with the growing popularity of 15mm, I still reckon there’s a good untapped market with the 15mm crowd.

As ever I wish them the best with their campaign (even so I know they’ll get full funding)

It’s been the ruin of me! Scratch built 15mm modern ruins scenery!

So, I thought I’d also share my latest additions to my scratch built scenery, my post apoc blasted modern ruins. I intended these for use in modern to zombie, post apoc and sci-fi. I try and make stuff that will fit a wide range of use due to real lack of storage, otherwise I would make all sorts of random big scenics, just cause it would be cool to do! I can’t unfortunately so the bits have to be more multifunctional. First bit is a large base of 3 ruins, cost nothing to make, pretty basic, but effective. Pictures say more than words, here’s the pics.

This next piece is what was originally a broken toy house I had to dispose of from my toddlers, it was dangerous and snapped. The rules of my house is, if it’s going in the bin, Dad’s going to put it to some use! I added some wood bits, foam card, tiny square foam craft stickers, bits of crap and dried plaster left overs and some other bits from my bits box. It turned out nice, the inside I prefer to the front, but it is going to be a good addition to the ruins collection.

I thought you might appreciate some action shots, so I present these just to give you a better idea where this is going to, As you can see the black dog building next to them, as with a few 15mm figures for scale (including the 10mm minotaurs) I do have more planned, enough i hope to do a large section of ruined city, but time will be a factor for any deadlines getting round to them.

Hope you like them!
