Northampton clown News: Carrickfergus copycat ‘killer clown’ turns himself into Police!

30 Sep

In an even more weird twist of events, it would seem our friend the Northampton Clown (Thanks for the favourited tweet, by the way!) has got himself a copycat, but this “killer clown” and his assistant gimp has come undone by the long arm of the law!

That’s right Carrickfergus in Northern ireland has it’s own creepy clown, no doubt in homage to the web sensation. Only thing is this one was seen hanging around some schools! Not surprisingly, the police weren’t happy with their antics, and the clown was forced to hand himself into the cops for scaring the kids!

It doesn’t seem to have deterred him much though, as you can see with this pic taken later outside the copshop!

Are we living in a golden age of costumed characters that emerge to be spotted? How long before someone takes it a little too far? Will there be more, a clown for every town?

More news later!!

Crowdfunding Spotlight: 28mm Laser Cut 3D Terrain, T.J.H Models Kickstarter

30 Sep

Time for another heads up over on KS, with these lovely laser cut Necromunda-esque scenics from T.J.H models. Very nice it is indeed, although a bit pricey for me, and obviously the wrong size (ahem…15mm anyone?!:)) But regardless, it’s a very cool looking set that would be ideal for loads of different sci-fi games.

There’s talk of wargames related stuff being at saturation point on KS and IndieGogo, but as many bad projects, there are some decent ones too, ideas which would not have found an audience without crowdfunding.

Go over and check them out by clicking the link below.

T.J.H Models Laser Cut 3D Terrain for 28mm Wargames by T.J.H Models — Kickstarter.

NOTE: If your planning a KS or other crowdfunding project that is miniature or wargames related, in fact anything that you think our readers on the grinning skull would be interested in reading, please get in touch and we’ll see if we can’t drum up a bit of extra publicity for it! (stuff for review would be cool also, as well as the odd £5!!) Contact us if you would like to be featured here!!

Northampton Clown News: Could the clown be coming to a Town near you?

30 Sep

So, an update with the bizarre Northampton clown. It would seem our creepy fiend wants to gain even more noteriety than just being Northamptons unsung hero/villain, by taking over the UK.

Now available are T-shirts and merchandise featuring the IT lookalike, in an attempt to fund the clowns travel of the country and appearances. Some have stepped in to the argument saying that any proceeds from the profits should go to charity, whilst others think “why not”! Such as this commenter noted in the article:

“Maybe this guy has bills to pay, kids to feed. He came up with a good idea, people wanted to buy some stuff, and he catered to them and now everyone has turned on him.”

Please help the Northampton clown, wife and kids to feed! Beep beep!!

A strange image popped into my head when I read that comment, I imagine that if the clown does have a wife and family to support, maybe they would look something like this pic!

On a serious note, what’s the real beef here? Fair play to the guy for trying to cash in on his fame, and if he wants to travel round the country spooking people in random towns, that’s fair enough (Although I’m sure some police forces outside of Northampton will not see his antics the same way…) but, since when does dressing up as a killer clown constitute having to do anything for charity? I say good on him at making a bit of coin in this day and age, but the nay sayers and caulrophobics will say otherwise (Or pennywise…)

Where is this going? Will the clown be guest starring in popular TV, or end up switching on Northamptons Christmas lights within the year? I just don’t get how he can better his antics. From the looks of things, he’s certainly going to cause more mayhem in the minds of more folks, but I still think of him as a one trick pony. Strangely, some of the article seems to hint that the man himself is a performer, is this a clue to uncovering the mystery of the clown? Is this some weird performance art?

Lets hope he has some clown minders in tow when he starts his UK tour, as there seems as if the anti- clown league are waiting to see what he’s spending his pennies on….

Scratch built 28mm Zombietown Highstreet up for sale on Miniature bids!

25 Sep

montagezombietown

I thought I’d let you know that reluctantly I’m getting rid of this great scratchbuilt piece over on Miniaturebids. I have decided that I’m phasing out any other 28mm stuff (Apart from WFB) so this has to go. At least it’ll free up more space to build more 15mm stuff, and carry on with my other projects. I’d like it to go to a good home that’ll use it and appreciate it much more than I can, tis a shame yes, but you have to be a bit mercenary when your trying to have a clearout!

Linky: https://miniaturebids.com/auctions/scenery_terrain/28mm-zombietown-street-terrain-2/

It also gives me a chance to try out the whole Miniature bids site and features, so there will be a few other zombie town related scenics going on there too. I’ll keep you posted about it! Of course there will be updates on my auctions over on my Ebay & Sales page too, so don’t forget to check up there as well if your interested in anything I have up for offer on the various sites.

Thanks folks!!

10mm Zombies now available from Pendraken!

24 Sep

Finally it’s time to start zombie wargaming in a new scale, yes Pendraken have released the new scifi revamps, which includes the much anticipated zombies and survivors!

Now I just need to start thinking about making some appropriate scenery in 10mm and getting some of these bad boys! If you don’t wargame the apocolypse, then I forsee this could be an ideal low cost way to get into the genre, especially as they are cheap as chips!! Ok, so it’s not 15mm (Like I harp on about all the time) but it is still zombies, so all is forgiven!! As for a ruleset, most would work with a bit of jiggling around, but I’d recommend USE ME ZOMBIE DAWN ( as it’s the one I play) You can read my review here if you want to take a look!

SFZ1 walking zombies (10) £1.80

SFZ2 standing zombies (10) £1.80

SFZ3 crawling zombies £1.80

SFZ4 female zombies and child

SFZ5 zombie dogs (5) £1,00

SFZ6 survivors (30) £5.00

Also there is an army/bundle available if you want to start 10mm zombie gaming, for the great price of £13 for 60 assorted zombies and dogs, and 25 survivors, thats plenty if you plan on skirmish gaming with them, you might need a few more if you want to base them in multiples and go all guns for sheer numbers!

Check out the zombies on the Pendraken website http://www.pendraken.co.uk/Sci-Fi-c24/Zombies-sc294/

Another great figure released in the scifi revamp is this Grey alien, as usual I see the implications in 15mm gaming, and I think at 12mm high he’d make great minions for the whole plethora of greys already available from lots of 15mm  manufacturers. Unarmed civilians, technical personel and so on can all be achieved with this figure, I know I’ll be getting a pack of these too on my next order to join my small advance force of greys (plus death ray UFO) If you really have to use them in 10mm scale gaming (god forbid! :)) they’d be cool for that too, and much of the 15mm stuff like saucers and drones will work equally well too!

You’ll find all the new released Scifi stuff, as well as the old stuff (don’t forget the civilian figures from the old range, they will do fine for extra citizens in any zombie or UFO invasion!) over on the Pendraken website http://www.pendraken.co.uk/Sci-Fi-c24/

Cheque now please Leon!!

Ciao!
